The carrier has been designed with the user in mind: not only does it weigh less that 4g for a standard six-pack, it also incorporates a handle for easy carrying convenience.
Made from 50% Sustane NXG, a post-consumer recycled (PCR) polymer produced by Berry bpi, the carrier can be easily recycled with current polyethylene (PE) film collection schemes.
In addition, WaveGrip says it intends to further boost the product’s sustainability credentials, by increasing the recycled content to 100% by 2021.
According to Darryl Roadnight, business director at WaveGrip, the combination of efficient material use, recycled content and recyclability already makes the new carriers a sustainable choice for multi-packs.
“And with our development plans to increase the use of PCR content even further, we will continue to improve its sustainability profile for beverage producers,” he said.
Not only does the new carrier create an additional surface on the pack for adding labels with brand messages and promotions, the labels themselves are also made from PE and do not impact on the carriers’ recyclability.
