Vanden Recycling has built a thriving business on the belief that plastic scrap has value. Yet, as Damien van Leuven, the company’s CEO says, even today, this is something not everyone understands. While the correct handling of scrap plastic can aid firms in being part of the circular economy and and to recoup raw material cost, there are still manufacturers sending their waste to landfill or to be incinerated, and thereby losing out on the opportunity to take advantage of the value of that material.
As he puts it: “Plastic scrap is a valuable commodity…but I’m forced to question if this statement is being taken on board by everyone who generates it.”
Vanden, an internationally operating recycling company founded in 2005, has the expertise and experience with plastics recycling and recovery methods to provide the industry with help and advice. The company has now created a new guide to plastic scrap, compiled with the aim of providing processors with insights into how to get the best value from their plastic scrap.
There are solutions to make plastic recycling work for all firms, enabling them to become part of the circular economy and generate a revenue stream from plastic waste, the company says.
