Since 2019, Jonas Farbenwerke has produced increasingly ‘greener’ adhesives, primers and interior paints, without compromising on quality or product properties.
The company has now also developed a technology for recycling ‘technically caused residual quantities resulting from the filling process’, back into the production process, in a ‘paint-to-paint’ loop that saves new raw materials.
For packaging its products, the company has partnered with German packaging manufacturer Jokey, whose Eco Concept fits perfectly with the eco-responsible products developed by Jonas.
"For years, Jokey has been developing its Eco Concept, based on sustainability along the entire value chain," explains CEO Jens Stadter. "The products we manufacture must also be completely recyclable. Jokey has been committed to this responsibility right from the start".
As an industrial partner of the Waste Free Ocean initiative, the packaging Jokey developed for Jonas is composed of 20% recycled plastics from marine waste, as well as of over 50% post-consumer recyclates. The latter is collected through the German dual system of waste collection and recycling and certified, among others by the RAL quality mark "%-Recycling-Kunststoff".
The packaging itself features a distinctive blue rim at the top that serves both as a distinctive quality feature and communicates the companies’ responsibility towards a circular economy to the customer.
It ‘fully reflects the values and responsibility of Jonas Farbenwerke and Jokey’, say the companies.
Jonas is the second customer to join the RAL initiative since Jokey first launched its certified recycled packaging in 2019. Other manufacturers are expected to join in the future, especially in light of the tightened legislation in terms of the percentage of required recycled content in packaging in Europe.
