Finland-based Uponor Infra Oy is expanding its sewer pipe offering with the addition of its new low-carbon Ultra Rib 2 Blue product.
Following the mass balance model, the new pipe is based on Borealis Bornewables PP consisting of over 50% certified renewable raw material, reducing the carbon footprint by up to 70% while maintaining existing quality standards and certifications.
The specifications of Ultra Rib 2 Blue are the same in terms of properties and performance as the standard Ultra Rib 2. The pipes are manufactured at Uponor's ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) certified factory in Fristad, Sweden.
The renewable feedstock used is derived from sources unsuitable for human consumption (waste and residue streams), and traceable back to the first collection points. Data transparency is at the heart of the system, backed up by the independent verification of all data.
The chain of custody created by the ISCC PLUS certification ensures that both the PP material and the end product - Uponor’s Ultra Rib 2 Blue sewer pipe - meet the high sustainability standards of ISCC PLUS.
