A European online monitoring platform for the uptake of recycled polymers – MOnitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE) – is now available for convertors in the UK.
Launched earlier in April by the European Plastics Convertors (EuPC), MORE is designed to monitor and register the industry’s efforts to reach the EU target of 10 million tonnes of recycled polymers being used annually between 2025 and 2030.
EuPC managing director Alexandre Dangis and Philip Law, British Plastics Federation director general, officially signed the MORE partnership agreement on 11 Nov in London, UK.
Now available to British plastics converters, MORE enables companies to register and submit the volumes of recycled polymers used in their products.
The UK is the 13th country within the European Union to offer the platform to the industry. The data that is submitted is confidential and only aggregated numbers are published.
“Our industry has the opportunity to showcase its efforts towards a circular plastics economy in Europe and be transparent on the volumes of recycled polymers they use in converting infrastructures,” said Alexandre Dangis signing the agreement in London.
Urging companies in the UK to use the digital platform, BPF head Philip Law said the platform would help develop “valuable data” and communicate the UK’s progress.
Being a data-driven platform, MORE needs a strong participation from the industry in order to function well and with credibility.
