The European subsidiary of Japan-based Ube Corporation has acquired Spanish plastics recycler Manufacturas Paulowsky.
Ube Corporation Europe has acquired a majority stake in Paulowsky, both based in Valencia, Spain.
Paulowsky produces recycled PP, HDPE, LDPE, PS, and ABS. Its 10,000 square metre facility offers grinding, washing, pelletising, dyeing, and additives services. Its recyclate is tested in-house for quality control and has received RecyClass certification.
Justifying the acquisition, Ube said European policies like the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the End-of-Life Vehicles directive are driving demand for recycled plastic.
“In response to market demand and future environmental regulations, Ube Corporation Europe aims to promote circular economy initiatives and create new growth opportunities,” the company said in a statement.
In April 2019, Ube’s subsidiary also acquired Spain-based compound manufacturer Repol.
Paulowsky had net sales of € 5,687,000 in 2023. It employs 9 workers.
