Tanrikulu, a leading plastics recycling company in Turkey, has installed a sophisticated Starlinger post-consumer HDPE and PP recycling line at its recycling facility in Başiskele, in the province of Kocaeli.

The new line, which was brought on stream mid-September 2022, is equipped with a Starlinger high-vacuum degassing unit; the recoSTAR dynamic 215 C-VAC has a production capacity of two tonnes of high-quality plastic pellets per hour and processes post-consumer HDPE and PP bottle flakes. The line also has a SMART feeder, ensuring the input material is effectively dried and homogenised prior to extrusion.

Designed for processing contaminated and hygroscopic post-consumer plastic waste, the Starlinger recoSTAR dynamic recycling lines offer highly automated, energy-efficient processes that ensure reliable and constant production. “The elaborate construction of the SMART feeder allows the recycling of materials with higher levels of humidity. In combination with Starlinger’s Dynamic Automation Package, which regulates the ideal operating point, it achieves a significant output increase, said Paul Niedl, Commercial Head of Starlinger recycling technology.

The specially developed C-VAC degassing unit features a cascade setup that dispenses with volatile contaminants after the main extruder, effectively removing them by expanding the melt surface by 300 percent.

Tanrikulu invests regularly in new equipment. “To ensure best regranulate quality, the post-consumer input material passes metal detectors and filtration systems before being washed and sorted,” İzzet Tanrikulu, General Manager of the Tanrikulu Group. It supplies its PP and PE regranulate to a wide range of different industries.

“The excellent vacuum degassing capacity of the Starlinger line combined with its high production output helps us to achieve best product quality at favourable costs, ensuring continuous supply of high-quality PP and PE regranulate to our customers,” Tanrikulu added.

The Tanrikulu Group got off to a modest start in 1989 in Istanbul, recycling paper, glass and metal waste.  The Group now boasts ten plastics recycling and manufacturing plants in various parts of Kocaeli Province and today exports 50 percent of its PET sheet products to overseas markets.
