A new partnership was announced at the recent World Recycling Convention in Rome between Circular Solutions Advisors (CSA), a company specialised in supporting companies to move towards a more sustainable waste management ecosystem, and blockchain expert Plastiks. Plastiks has developed technology to optimise transparency and accountability in recycling and circular economy processes based on the use of blockchain technology. In order to help businesses achieve ESG objectives, it offers partnerships to assist businesses with efforts against plastic pollution and promoting environmental stewardship.
The partnership was born out of recognising that verifiable data is critical for companies reporting their recycling results if claims or accusations of greenwashing are to be credibly countered. CSA and Plastiks together can offer the combination of recycling expertise and blockchain technology needed to demystify reporting with accurate, transparent results.
Blockchain technology securely records recycling transactions, ensuring integrity of the publicly accessible data and establishing a reliable foundation for reporting of green claims to company stakeholders or for regulatory compliance.
"The verification of plastic waste collection and recycling is crucial for ensuring transparency in sustainability efforts and the implementation of the circular economy through blockchain. This guarantees transparency, trust, and prevents greenwashing," explained André Vanyi-Robin, Founder & CEO of Plastiks.
Tracing PET plastic throughout the recycling process has been a challenge for even the most diligent companies. Using Plastiks's blockchain-based platform, businesses and factories can verify plastic recovery efforts by tracking and documenting collection for reuse.
"Credibility is at the heart of circular economy reporting," said CSA CEO J.T. Marburger. "For years, we have helped organisations divert material from landfills and verify their recycling efforts. With this partnership, we are going to a new level, ensuring no step is overlooked."
