Rosti Group, IDC partner to create integrated ‘Design To Supply’ solution’

In line with the  push towards more collaborative models at the international level, Rosti Group, a European headquartered plastics moulding company and contract manufacturer, has entered into a new partnership with the Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC) in London. This will enable Rosti to offer clients access to a flexible innovation and production solution both in Europe and China and enhance the current offering from the Rosti facility in China.

As Pat Williams, Senior Vice President Asia at Rosti Group pointed out, the  traditional linear contracts individually linking participants in the supply chain are making way for more flexible multi-party contracts, allowing all parties concerned to enter into new co-operative commercial relationships.

“By connecting the design expertise of IDC with the prototyping and production capabilities of Rosti, companies seeking cost-effective, innovative and schedule critical production have a new option to consider.”

Rosti’s China facility operates with almost 1,100 employees on a 25,000 m² plant, and houses one of Rosti Innovation Labs. IDC, one of the most well-respected international studios which has a special focus on industrial and medical design, operates offices in London and Shanghai. Industrial &mechanical design, electrical software and hardware design, prototyping and low volume production, plus regulatory support will now be available both in Europe and China.

The two companies have complementary expertise, he said, with the core competence of both remaining within their own legal entities. The idea is to create joint teams under the Rosti Group project manager that will provide a full development service which includes CE marking and IEC 60601 for medical electrical equipment and systems. This set-up will also enable clients to take advantage of the Rosti Innovation labs for prototyping “from concept to reality in 72-hours."

The major benefit, say the companies, is that clients will be dealing with a single point of contact. In this way, they gain an integrated solution delivered by the teams from the two companies collaborating on a project at an international level.
