The global plastics reseller, distributor and recycler company Ravago has considerably reinforced its presence in the UK with the purchase of Aurora Manufacturing and Venture Polymers, two market leaders in recycling post-consumer waste plastics in the UK. This acquisition will extend Ravago’s Ravapura product portfolio, the company’s brand for what it calls ‘post-use’ recycled compounds.
It is a key step in Ravago’s growth strategy in PCR-based compounds, said Manuel Gayo, Business Director for Ravago Manufacturing Europe. Financial details were not disclosed.
Aurora, founded 20 years ago in Leigh, Lancashire, specialises in the production of compounds for injection moulding derived from a variety of recycled polymers including polypropylene, high density polyethylene and others, with a current production capacity of 20,000 tonnes per year; Cheshire-based Venture Polymers provides all forms of recycled plastics including the commodities polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS and polystyrene as well as and engineering polymers such as nylons, polycarbonate, acrylic and acetal.
“Following two decades of work within the UK plastics recycling industry we are pleased to announce the acquisition of our businesses into the Ravago group,” said Alex Cook, of Aurora Manufacturing.
“As the recycling market continues to mature within the UK we are very much focussed on expansion and realising our full potential in the coming years. The investment and support of Ravago will play a key part in this and will accelerate our ability to adapt and meet the requirements of the future market for recycled plastics.”
