Polykemi Group certified in China for production innovative recycled compounds

Polykemi Group has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first company in Kunshan, China, to gain approval for advanced capabilities in upgrading recycled plastic materials. Following an extensive environmental certification process, the Swedish group has now invested in the advanced equipment needed for the production of plastic compounds from completely new types of recycled plastic materials.

It is the first approval received through an environmental certification process from the Environmental Administration in Kunshan in two decades and it opens the door for the company to explore alternative sources beyond traditionally recycled products. Not only will this significantly expands the availability of recycled resources, it also aligns with the voracious growth in market demand for high-quality recycled plastic - a growth that shows no signs of slowing down.

The new processing equipment installed by the company can handle a diverse range of plastic raw materials from sources, such as dust, non-woven and fibre materials, thereby increasing the delivery capacity. Similar machinery was previously implemented in their Swedish facility. As a result, the company can now produce more sustainable products  based on recycled plastic raw materials, which also have a lower carbon footprint, on a global scale.

It shows it is possible to produce and customize materials based on recycled plastic raw materials that meet very high-quality requirements, said Magnus Lindahl, CEO China.

Since 2007, Polykemi has been producing bespoke plastic compounds in Kunshan. With the recent capability to manufacture compounds from new, high-quality recycled materials, the company is poised to benefit local partners through improved availability and flexible delivery options. Producing in Asia diminishes transport distances and emissions, fostering more sustainable business practices.
