India-based chemical recycler PolyCycl announced the launch of ‘Generation VI’, the latest evolution of its patented chemical recycling technology.
Gen VI combines PolyCycl’s fully continuous pyrolysis process with its new pyrolysis oil purification technology, called PyOilClean. The technology reduces organic chlorides and other heteroatom-based contamination in pyrolysis oils.
It uses a novel, multi-stage methodology that combines physical and chemical purification methods, without the use of expensive hydrogenation, PolyCycl said on its LinkedIn page.
By adding PyOilClean purification to its pyrolysis process, PolyCycl’s technology delivers conversion yields of up to 75%.
PolyCycl already operates a fully continuous chemical recycling demonstration facility in Chandigarh, India. The plant uses its patented AutoCharRemoval reactor design, which promotes constant feedstock agitation, enabling high heat transfer and continuous expulsion of solid residues from the pyrolysis process.
In 2023, the company entered entered into an agreement with Re Sustainability, Asia’s largest integrated waste management company, for the development of a network of feedstock facilities in India for chemical recycling of plastics. The first waste sorting and pre-processing facility is planned to be built in the territory of Delhi.
