Brazilian flexible plastics recycler Plastiweber is introducing its 100% post-consumer recycled resins at PRSE.
As one of Brazil’s largest flexible plastic recyclers, the company said it sees great potential in expanding its offerings beyond home ground, aiming to meet the increasing demand for high-quality recycled plastics in Europe.
“We need to stay updated on industry trends and challenges,” said Lucas Pellenz, head of business development at Plastiweber. “The Brazilian market has unique characteristics, and we want to introduce our solutions to new international applications. With our high technical capacity, we can produce resins and semi-finished films that add significant value to the European packaging market.”
Plastiweber is showcasing three types of PCR polymers, including its Blue Ocean resin made from plastic waste collected within 50 kilometres of the Brazilian coastline. The company’s Green Cycle product line offers 100% PCR resins designed to meet strict technical requirements with consistency, scalability, and high performance.
Its portfolio includes different grades of Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), customised for various applications:
LLDPE PCR MT25: Suitable for flexible packaging, stretch films, sacks, tubes, and sheets, offering crystal-clear colour and high processability.
LDPE PCR MT07: Ideal for shrink films, printed packaging, and shrink wraps, featuring a brownish hue and smooth extrusion performance.
LDPE PCR HT05: Designed for flexible packaging with strong adhesion properties, offering clear colour and easy processing in standard extruders.
In 2024, Plastiweber recovered over 12.1 million plastic packaging items through socio-environmental programs, positively impacting 16 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, where Plastiweber is headquartered. The resins are produced from flexible films collected from cooperatives, supermarkets, and waste management organisations.
