Friedrichshafen, Germany — Italian machinery supplier Piovan SpA will step back from Fakuma 2020 because of "the uncertainty in the evolution of the COVID-19 disease."
The St. Maria di Salva-based company joins a growing number of companies saying they will not "actively" take part in the event set for Oct. 13-17 in Friedricshafen. Machinery suppliers Wittmann Group, KraussMaffei, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag and Engel all have said they would not take part.
Auxiliary suppliers Sepro, Motan-Colortronic, Nordson Corp. and Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik also have pulled resources from the event.
"Any choice of Piovan Group has, as a primary aim, the health and safety of our collaborators and potential visitors to our stand at Fakuma," Piovan announced July 14, but added that "Fakuma ... remains such a key event to meet partners and people interested in our solutions that we will attend promptly as soon as conditions get back to normal."
