Italy-based Piovan Group has opened its new Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in Suzhou, China.
Following a €10 million investment, the 15,000-square-meter facility is designed to bolster Piovan’s presence in the region, driving innovation, sustainability, and regional support.
Founded in 1934 as a mechanical engineering company, Piovan entered the plastics industry in 1964 as an auxiliary equipment manufacturer. The group has nine production facilities in Italy, Germany, Brazil, and the United States in addition to China as well as 33 subsidiaries.
Piovan’s products have been on the Chinese market for 20 years. The company opened its first production plant in the country in 2005 in Zhuhai, and then a facility in Suzhou in 2008. The Group opened its first sales office in Asia in 1997 in Singapore.
The new Suzhou headquarters will serve as a hub for engineering consulting, training, and after-sales services across the APAC region, supporting subsidiaries in Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Singapore.
“China is a market that the Group has always believed in by opening its first production site outside Italy 20 years ago,” said Piovan Group CEO Filippo Zuppichin. “We were convinced that China was becoming the manufacturing engine of the world. The facts and growth in recent years have confirmed this, and we are confident of future successes.”
The Suzhou facility employs 130 people, including 50 engineers dedicated to innovation and development projects. Sustainability is a core focus, with an on-site solar panel system expected to produce 1MWh of renewable energy annually. The facility will also support the Group’s Heat Transfer Division, offering cooling systems for industrial applications.
Piovan was acquired by a subsidiary of Italian investment firm Investindustrial in July 2024.
