Periplast, a Portugal-based extrusion machinery manufacturer, is marking its 40th anniversary at PRSE.
The company is showcasing its extrusion line for plastic lumber, a replacement for wood. The technology transforms a mix of non-recyclable plastic waste - 70% LDPE, HDPE, PP and 30% other mixed plastic and contaminants - into durable products like outdoor tables.
Designed to process mixed and non-recyclable plastics, the extrusion system and moulds create high-quality structural beams suitable for a range of applications, including construction, landscaping, agriculture, and urban infrastructure.
The process addresses problems with traditional wood like warping, chipping, rot, cracking and degradation, offering a cost competitive solution based on reduced maintenance costs.
Beyond its technological advancements, Periplast plays a role in the Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda, an initiative led by the Portuguese Plastics Industry Association (APIP) to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.
“Our 40th anniversary is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of plastic processing technology,” said Daniel Sousa, general manager at Periplast. “With our latest extrusion line, businesses can turn waste into long-lasting, profitable products, reinforcing sustainability while opening new market opportunities. We are proud to showcase this technology, made in Portugal, at PRSE and engage with industry leaders who share our vision.”
