Wirral-based Osprey UK supplies plastic sports bottles and drinking bottles manufactured in the UK to the education and promotional sectors. The company's Activ-R recyclable bottle is intended “to help today's children care for tomorrow's world”.
Activ-R is tough, according to the company, withstanding a lot of wear and tear, but when the bottles need replacing they can be returned in exchange for credits which are redeemable against the next delivery of bottles. The used bottles are then recycled for reuse in the manufacturing process.
Activ-R is made from a Braskem polyethylene produced from Brazilian sugarcane ethanol. Bolton-based Bettix worked with Braskem's European distributor FKuR Kunststoff and Osprey to create the bottle. Bettix applied its expertise in extrusion blow moulding in conjunction with Osprey's bespoke tooling.
