Nordmann, an international chemical distributor headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, has signed an agreement with Biofibre, a German manufacturer of biocompounds, for the distribution of Biofibre’s product range in a broad selection of European countries, effective immediately.
Biofibre was founded in 2011 as a 100% subsidiary of LWB Steinl GmbH & Co KG., a manufacturer of machines for the elastomer processing industry. The company produces granulae compounds derived from renewably-sourced raw materials that are not in competition with food production. Composed of natural fibers and a (bio-)polymer matrix, the products are suitable for processing using conventional processing technologies. The applications are many and varied - from alternative packaging concepts, technical workpieces through to use in the concrete industry.
"Biofibre is a significant new supplier for Nordmann. As a chemical distributor, sustainable raw materials and the reduction of plastic waste are of great importance to us. That is why we are particularly pleased to take over the distribution of Biofibre's natural fiber-reinforced CO2 neutral biomaterials, enabling us to offer our customers an alternative for sustainably manufactured products," said Jost E. Laumeyer, global sales director Plastics at Nordmann.
The portfolio includes the bio-based compounds Biofibre Silva, Biofibre Solva, Biofibre Lenta and Biofibre Sustra. Customised blends for customer-specific requirements are also available.
The distribution agreement covers Bulgaria, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary.
The partnership agreement is a reflection of Biofibre’s growth ambitions. The company also recently significantly expanded its production capacities with the acquisition of an 80% stake in Naftex GmbH, based in Wiesmoor, Germany, a family-owned producer of natural fibre-reinforced polymer composites (NFRP) and WPC profiles with a cross section of up to 250 x 250mm, founded by Rainer Koopmann.
“Thanks to Nordmann's international network and excellent relationships we are confident that we can significantly increase awareness of Biofibre products in the European market", said Christoph Glammert, CEO of Biofibre.
