Fond Of, a German manufacturer of sustainable and quality children’s products, has introduced a new balance bike with a 100% nylon frame designed for toddlers and young children weighing up to 30kg.
Launched under the brand name Affenzahn, the bike is made from a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide compound supplied by Akro-Plastic.
Strong and lightweight, the injection moulded hollow frame is produced using water injection technology. As a result, the entire bike weighs well under 4 kg, according to Michael Rieck, head of innovation management at Akro-Plastic.
The balance bike is available in four different colours. To that end, use was made of colour masterbatches from Af-Color, a branch of Akro-Plastic, resulting in a dyed-through frame insensitive to scratches - unlike conventional frames featuring lacquered finishes.
According to Fond Of, the balance bike offers a number of innovative functions: "The kids' balance bike is equipped with a 12" rear wheel and 14" large front wheel, which additionally facilitates the crossing of obstacles, almost like a mountain bike,” said Oliver Schlieben, head of product and innovation at Fond OF.
“This makes every obstacle child's play. The frame is designed with children in mind and the low entry makes it easy to get on and off. And of course, the balance bike comes with its own monkey wheels.”
The bike is suitable for children aged one and a half years and up.
