Norway-based BioBag International AS, a subsidiary of Italy’s bio-based chemicals and compostable plastics manufacturer Novamont, has announced a change of management. The BioBag board has appointed Patrik Fogelström as the new CEO of BioBag Group and has also named him managing director of BioBag International AS, the parent company of the Group.
Kjell Ivar Bache, the previous CEO, will remain in the group for a period of time to ensure a seamless transition.
With over 30 years of experience under his belt in several senior management positions, Fogelström brings a deep knowledge of the packaging industry and international operations to his new role.
He has worked at start-ups and international corporations, including TetraPak, gaining expertise in leadership, strategy, sales, and marketing.
Fogelström, who holds a Master of Science in Business & Economics from the University of Lund and completed various Executive Management programs at University of Manchester and IMD Lausanne, was welcomed by Catia Bastioli, CEO of the Novamont Group and Chairman of BioBag International AS, who expressed her firm belief that ‘the experience he brings to BioBag will strengthen the whole Novamont group in our efforts to reach our ambitious goals’.
She added that the Board thanked Kjell Ivar for his dedication and hard work over the past eight years to bringing the group to where it stands today.
Novamont acquired BioBag Group in January 2021, following a decades-long collaboration between the two companies. BioBag, a supplier of low-impact solutions for waste collection and packaging, had been using Novamont’s Mater-Bi compostable resins for years in its plastic products. The company is headquartered in Askim, Norway and operates a production plant in Dagö, Estonia. It is also present in 9 other countries worldwide.
