The Police and the Health & Safety Executive are investing an accident at Swadlincote-based recycler, Rainbow Waste, which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old worker.
Ashley William Morris died from crush injuries on Saturday at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.
A statement from Derbyshire police said: "A 24-year-old man taken from the scene of an accident in Robian Way, has now unfortunately died in hospital as a result of his injuries.
"Officers from Derbyshire police are now assisting the Health and Safety Executive and the South Derbyshire coroner in investigating the circumstance of this tragic accident."
Rainbow Waste has confirmed it is working with the relevant authorities during the investigation into the accident. “The company has been in touch with the employee's family to express its deepest condolences to his friends and family. At this difficult time our thoughts are obviously with his family and work colleagues. All those involved in the incident have been offered counselling,” it said in a statement.
The company handles glass, cardboard, paper, plastic, wood and metals.
