Since 1992, Lohner Kunststoffrecycling GmbH (LKR) has been active in the recycling of post-industrial and post-consumer waste products into new material. The company, which today is part of the Remondis Group, handles some 45,000 metric tons every year.
Today, new regulations and international discussion are driving the industry towards a more sustainable use of raw materials. “From an economic point of view, it is absurd to simply dispose of valuable recyclable materials,” says Lohner.
As a circular economy pioneer, the company is aware, however, of the specialist knowledge required for successful high-quality mechanical recycling operations.
Lohner has now expanded its capacity with the purchase of a Lindner Micromat 2000 shredder equipped with a new cutting system. The Multiplex cutting system enables efficiently shreds almost any type of plastic to be efficiently shredder for further processing, yielding productivity gains even for difficult materials such as sheets or pipes.
This system was specifically developed for shredding a wide range of materials at high output rates. The geometry of the unit allows the rotor knives to actively pull in the material. Combined with the powerful drive, this ensures up to 40% higher throughput for the same machine size – significantly increasing throughput, ‘even with tough materials, and without having to switch to a larger shredder,’ said Jan-Hendrik Wilming, CEO at LKR.
