Thermoformed packaging specialist Leeds Vacuum Formers (LVF) has achieved a landmark goal.
The company now successfully recycles all plastic waste produced during the manufacturing process at its National Road factory in Leeds.
The company mainly manufactures plastic packaging for the food, drink and confectionary markets, sought a local recycling outlet for PE waste.
It found the right partner in Leeds-based OSO Environmental Limited / OSO Polymers UK Limited LVF aimed to recycle 100% of the waste produced.
“Teaming up with OSO Group means we can now achieve a level of recyclability that few would even consider a plastic packaging manufacturer could come close to achieving,” Nigel Coates, managing director of LVF observed.
OSO Polymers UK Limited recycles the PE generally used for wrapping pallets of raw material by its suppliers, ‘which ordinarily would have to go into its general waste skip and consequently end its life in landfill’, said Coates.
In addition to recycling all PE and post-process plastic waste, LVF currently recycles all of its cardboard waste, as well. It is one of the few packaging companies able to legitimately claim that all of the products it manufactures are fully recyclable.
“To be able to say we now recycle 100 per cent of all post-process waste, whether plastic, polythene or cardboard is perhaps my proudest achievement in over 30 years of business,” said Coates.
