As Nova Chemicals continues on the path towards the development of and transition to circular plastics, the company has now named Greg DeKunder as vice president of Nova Circular Solutions, the new line of business focused on lower-emission, recycled solutions.
Nova Chemicals already has a number of sustainable product offerings, such as Syndigo recycled polyethylene, which is the company’s new portfolio of products made entirely from recycled resins. DeKunder will continue to expand these offerings, while standing up Nova’s t mechanical recycling business and exploring advanced recycling opportunities in response to the growing recycled content needs of its customers.
Succeeding DeKunder as vice president, polyethylene marketing is Sarah Marshall, who has worked at Nova Chemicals for over 20 years. Marshall most recently served as vice president of sustainability, where she built Nova Chemicals’ sustainability team and function and put its 2030Roadmap to Sustainability Leadership into action. As vice president of polyethylene marketing, Marshall will be responsible for the strategic growth of the business as it strives to meet its vision of being the leading sustainable polyethylene producer in North America.
Succeeding Marshall, Jennifer Woolfsmith has taken on the role of vice president, sustainability. Woolfsmith is another 20+ year veteran of the company, who most recently served as chief of staff to the CEO where she worked with senior leadership and the board to develop Nova Chemicals’ 2030 Roadmap to Sustainability Leadership.
As the vice president of sustainability, Woolfsmith will focus on the ongoing development and execution of Nova’s sustainability strategy. She will also lead internal and external engagement and reporting, while implementing the requisite strategies for the company to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 absolute CO2 emissions by 30 per cent by 2030, and achieve net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050.
