France-based Lactips, a producer of 100% biobased plastic that the company says is water-soluble and completely biodegradable in all environments, has announced that it has expanded its range of biobased paper-coating solutions.
Responding to demand from packaging manufacturers, Lactips has developed and is now launching a new sealant grade that meets the market’s need for a more economical, durable and high-performance alternative to traditional fossil-based sealants.
The new CareTips PFP344MAX grade is claimed to offer high sealability for optimum protection of packaged products. The 100% biobased, recyclable and home compostable products contains no PFAS. It decreases the environmental footprint of the packaging while guaranteeing food safety and compliance with health standards. Easy to use, this new grade is available in ready-to-dissolve granules designed for industrial conversion processes.
CareTips PFP344MAX has been created to provide a more sustainable packaging solution for companies that are increasingly looking to reduce their environmental impact. These manufacturers are exploring the use of biobased plastics and reductions in the quantity of materials used as a means to enhance the cost-effectiveness of their operations by controlling production costs without compromising quality and performance.
‘At Lactips, we have chosen to support the changing needs of packaging manufacturers by working on the concepts of sustainability, functionality and profitability. The companies in the sector that are able to adapt to these trends and offer innovative and economically attractive solutions will be best placed to succeed in this constantly evolving market,’ said Benoît Berny, Product Innovation Manager at Lactips.
The company identified a need for packaging solutions with high sealability but no grease barrier function which led to the development of the new sealant grade.
“Ideal for packaging inert and dry food products, as well as secondary packaging, our solution meets the requirements of manufacturers. This new grade developed by Lactips is a virtuous, economically attractive and innovative alternative,” said Berny.
