With a nod to sustainability, Kiefel Technologies plans to preview the coming launch of equipment for producing polymer cups and fiber sip-lids.
Kiefel will be running two packaging machines at Brückner Group's booths (W6361 and W6560): the Speedformer KMD 90.1 Premium steel rule cutting machine and the Natureformer KFT lab model producing natural fiber-based bowls.
The Speedformer KMD 90.1 Premium machine will be equipped with a six-cavity Sencorp tool for 100 percent post-consumer PET lids designed for aluminum ready-meal pans. The steel rule cutting machine features a customized configuration for down-stacking and pick-and-place stacking.
The KMD 90.1 Premium machine handles various thermoformed polymer packaging for both food and nonfood use, including containers, lids, trays and technical packaging. Kiefel emphasizes that existing tools can be integrated easily into the machine.
Automated tool change makes it easier to switch film between production runs.
The other machine running at the show, the Natureformer KFT lab model, is part of Kiefel's fiber thermoforming machine portfolio, which will also include the KFT 90.1.
"Kiefel is excited to announce the upcoming launch of our new lid production system, the KFL 90.1," said Richard Hagenauer, head of product management for the fiber packaging division. "This reliable system will allow customers to manufacture lids up to 40 millimeters tall for various food applications, including hot and cold drinks, margarine, fresh cheese, ice cream, hot brew and more."
Kiefel said it also will preview the Speedformer KTR 6.2, its latest tilting machine. The KTR 6.2 is designed to mass produce thermoformed polymer high-end cups. The machine has a larger forming area, and an improved cooling process results in a faster forming time.
The KTR 6.2 can provide a 30 percent or higher output of cups and coffee capsules than its predecessor, and it allows for taller cups and the opportunity to use a variety of materials, according to the company.
Kiefel, based in Freilassing, Germany, is part of Brückner Group GmbH of Siegsdorf, Germany.
