A community in Panama is reusing plastic bottles to build houses, roads, and more.
Canadian Robert Bezeau is the creator of Plastic Bottle Village and since 2012, he has collected more than a million bottles.
The site is on the island of Bocas del Toro, on the Caribbean coast of the Central American nation.
The entire project will be built in three phases, stretching across 83 acres of hilltop partial ocean view lots, and secluded jungle lots.
Phase one began in late 2015, with the construction of the community's first single-storey two-bedroom home.
The homes are sold complete upon request, equipped with a septic tank system, piped water catchment gutters, plumbing, electrical, standard windows, and doors and an exterior pavement.
A two-storey plastic bottle house of 100 sq metres will be built reusing 14,000 plastic bottles.
On his website, Bezeau said: “People have changed. The world has changed. If we got to a point where we need to drink water in plastic bottles, we surely have changed.
“Humans have now reached an increasing volume of 7.3 billion people on the planet. If each one of us drink only one bottle a day, we are looking at 2.6 trillion bottles a year.”
Certainly Mr Bezeau has shown a lotta bottle for his project.
