Austrian recycling machinery manufacturer Erema has long earned recognition as a producer of high end recycling systems.
Perhaps less well known is the fact that Umac, a subsidiary company and part of the Erema Group, was established in 2016 to offer a reliable source for pre-owned Erema recycling machinery.
In the four years since its founding, the company has sold more than 60 machines and components. Backed by a global network and the knowhow available in the Erema Group as a whole, Umac is able to source previously owned recycling plants and components and recondition and adapt these for resale.
The price-performance ratio of the used equipment is ‘very attractive’ according to Umac managing director Markus Stölnberger, and the business model has proven to be a success.
“The constant increase in demand shows us that we are on the right track," says Stölnberger.
One recent sale was made to Avangard Innovative's Natura PCR recycling plant in Texas (USA). The company saw demand for post-consumer recycled materials rising and needed to additional PCR LDPE and LLDPE processing capacity.
Umac sourced and factory-reconditioned an INTAREMA 1714 TVEplus plant, which the company then also equipped with twin EREMA laser filters in accordance with the customer's specific requirements. The modification with the new filters ensures consistently high throughputs even with high levels of contamination.
The system was tested and shipped – and the customer was impressed.
“They not only were able to provide a machine that fits our application, but they were able to modify it and deliver to us in an unbelievable short period,” said Jon Stephens, president at Natura PCR, LLC.
Umac GmbH is based in Ansfelden near Linz. The services it provides cover the evaluation, refurbishment, purchasing and sales as well as commissioning of previously owned recycling systems and components.
