Finnish packaging specialist Huhtamaki has introduced a new range of recyclable flexible packaging solutions to conform with the growing circular economy trends.
The blueloop range includes, among others, mono-material PP and PE solutions, providing innovative polyolefin structures, said the Espoo-based company 9 April.
The materials can be used to pack coffee, snacks, dry food, personal care and other fast-moving consumer products.
The range also includes paper-based solutions to replace plastic packaging.
The new series, according to Huhtamaki, has been developed in response to consumer desire for sustainable solutions and legislation changes surrounding plastics.
"We are committed to offering recyclable solutions for all our flexible packaging product categories", said OIli Koponen, executive vice president, Flexible Packaging at Huhtamaki.
For Michael Hahl, sustainability and strategic innovation director at Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging, blueloop is more than a product range.
“It is a learning and development platform," said Hahl.
According to Hahl, the new range requires collaboration with the full supply chain – from resin providers to customers and recyclers.
“Our closest focus is on product design and manufacturing. However, collecting, sorting and reusing the recycled material are all part of the blueloop perspective," Hahl added.
