Materials distributor Formerra now is offering nylon resins and sustainable materials made by Evonik Industries AG to customers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
In a news release, Doug Zupan, Formerra operations vice president, said that "joining forces with Evonik empowers us to supply top-tier materials for critical applications in automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors."
He added that Evonik's reputation in high performance nylon production and their commitment to sustainable solutions "resonate with our vision of offering customers the best cutting-edge material options."
Evonik materials are available in Mexico through Formerra's recent acquisition of Suministro de Especialidades. The agreement covers the following materials:
• Vestamid-brand nylon 12, nylon 12 elastomer and nylon 6/12.
• Trogamid CX-brand transparent and microcrystalline nylons.
• Sustainable grades of Vestamid including nylon 12, nylon 6/10 and nylon 10/10.
Evonik Americas granules and compounds director Craig Schmidter said "with Formerra's vast network and deep technical support for performance-driven applications, they are the ideal choice for our [nylon] products distribution."
Romeoville, Ill.-based Formerra will exhibit next month at NPE2024 at Booth S39025 in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Earlier this year, the firm opened a new warehouse in Malmo, Sweden.
Formerra was created in late 2022 when Miami-based HIG Capital acquired the former Avient Corp. resin distribution unit. The business distributes resin and compounds for 21 suppliers, including Dow Inc., BASF and LyondellBasell Industries.
Evonik is a global materials supplier based in Essen, Germany. The firm employs more than 33,000 worldwide and posted sales of more than $16 billion in 2023.
