A fire has damaged a recycling plant in Carmarthen, South Wales. The blaze at the Mekatek site involved a large amount of tyres and electrical goods.
Thick smoke plumed 60 feet into the air and fire fighters spent four hours at the scene which witnesses said was "heavy with fumes". Police closed of the area while the blaze was tackled.
A spokeswoman from Natural Resources Wales, which licences the plant, told local media that there was no indication of any significant environmental impact. No cause for the fire had been identified, she added.
The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service described the fire as “quite large”, adding that no-one was hurt in the incident.
