Leading European plastics industry associations have held a joint workshop to establish new ways to promote the use of recycled polymers.
The event, organised by the European Plastics Convertors (EuPC), Germany’s VDMA, Italy’s Amaplast and EUROMAP, was attended by over 30 representatives of European plastics companies and included two sessions on film stretching & thermoforming; and blow moulding & injection moulding.
The workshop, held 9 July, aimed to “enhance” the dialogue between plastics machinery manufacturers and converters, and to find new opportunities for technological developments in the use of recycled polymers, EuPC said in a statement.
The speakers presented the latest trends in technology development and challenges in the industry during the one-day event.
Markus Koppers of Brückner Technologies addressed the issues surrounding film stretching while Alfredo Banfi of AMUT-COMI discussed thermoforming. Celestino Spiga of Magic MP and Guenther Klammer of Engel Austria also discussed blow moulding and injection moulding technologies respectively.
The four associations have agreed to continue their efforts with additional workshops on different technologies by early 2020.
