Specialty packaging manufacturer EPL Limited, an India-headquartered company known until last year known Essel Propack Limited, and Colgate-Palmolive India, have announced they are partnering on the launch of a recyclable toothpaste tube for two of Colgate-Palmolive’s major Indian toothpaste brands: Colgate Active Salt and Colgate Vedshakti.
EPL’s Platina tube is an eco-friendly laminated tube produced with less than 5% barrier resin. Offering excellent functionality and performance, it is the first fully sustainable and completely recyclable tube in the world to have received global recognition from the APR for consistently meeting or exceeding the most stringent APR HDPE Critical Guidance criteria and be certified as 100% recyclable by RecyClass. The tube features an integrated shoulder inner barrier liner that is recyclable in the Code 2 HDPE recycle stream, allowing the total tube to be recycled in a single recycling stream.
Colgate-Palmolive which is the first oral care brand in India to launch such an initiative nationally and the company has said that this first set of recyclable tubes is the starting point for converting to 100% recyclable tubes for Colgate-Palmolive.

The Platina range of HDPE tubes are designed to deliver source reduction and recyclability without the loss of any barrier properties. This allows for sustained product stability and durable shelf life of the packed content. The tube is especially suited for oral, toiletries, and food brands.
