Plastics machinery producer Engel Austria has a longstanding market presence in Japan. The company is now underpinning that position with the founding of a new sales and service subsidiary in Tokyo. Engel had, up until now, worked together with the trading company Correns Corporation in Japan, but feels that having its own subsidiary will allows it to ‘better support our customers in these particularly consulting-intensive topics and to respond more quickly and flexibly to local requirements,’ according to Gero Willmeroth, regional president East Asia and Oceania at Engel.
Yuji Takeda has been appointed managing director of Engel Japan KK. He will head a team consisting of a service technician, an assistant and, from the second quarter of this year, a service technician from Engel in Austria, who is moving to Japan to provide additional support during the first few years. As the only western injection moulding machine manufacturer with three plants in Asia to produce its entire machinery range, Engel’s commitment to the Asian market is strong. Its customers benefit from short delivery times and flexible adaptation of the products to the specific requirements of the region. Engel also develops highly integrated and automated system solutions with local know-how, which, in many cases, speeds up project planning.
