A fire has damaged a Kidderminster facility run by Lawrence Recycling. The blaze required 80 fire fighters and seven fire tenders before it was under control.
According to local media reports, several thousand tonnes of material destined for export were alight. Police have ruled out arson after studying CCTV footage.
“It's not suspicious and is still being treated as unexplained,” said a spokesman for West Mercia Police.
Such is the scale of the blaze that fire experts expect there to be a presence at the plant for a week during a “controlled burn”.
Local residents have been asked to keep windows closed and have been warned that residual smoke could linger for some time to come.
