Eco-Products, a brand of US-based packaging and food services company Novolex, has once again achieved recertification as a B Corporation after going through the rigorous certification and verification process already for the third time. The company successfully met the B Impact Assessment score requirements, which rates businesses on factors such as employee benefits, civic engagement, DE&I initiatives, product environmental benefits and the impacts of business operations.
B Corps are required to undergo the verification process every three years, keeping them focused on continuous improvement, noted B Lab, the nonprofit organisation that assesses and certifies companies as B Corps.
“B stands for Benefit for all,” B Lab said. “The B Global Network mobilises the B Corp movement to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet.”
Accordingly, Eco-Products has, for example, Installed solar panels at its headquarters, which produce nearly twice as much electricity as what was consumed in the building in 2022. It has developed a growing number of high-quality, innovative products made from renewable resources and post-consumer recycled content. The company has also worked with composting facilities and stakeholders in the communities it serves to support the diversion of organics from landfills. Also, in addition to publishing an annual impact report, Eco-Products strives to achieve a more equitable and inclusive workplace for employees, and it donates to environmental causes and organisations, especially those working to expand compost infrastructure.
The company has also partnered with professional sports teams like the Minnesota Twins, venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and campuses like the University of Colorado at Boulder as their official zero waste partner. Other customers include hospitals, corporate campuses, convention centres and independent foodservice operators. Most recently, Eco-Product announced a collaboration with the Portland Trail Blazers, a professional basketball team.
Today, there are over 5,000 certified B Corporations in more than 150 industries in over 80 countries in the world. These now also include Eco-Products’ sister company Vegware, which recently earned certification as a B Corp for the first time.
