Dutch recycler Van Werven received an award at this month's UK Trade and Investment Awards Dinner in the Netherlands for an investment at its plastics handling plant in Selby.
Ton van der Giessen, managing director, and Tjaco Naaktgeboren, finance director, accepted the award on behalf of Van Werven from Paul Arkwright, British Ambassador to the Netherlands, and Lord Stephen Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment.
According to the company, it recognised the opportunity for developing plastic recycling in the UK – the new plant at Selby provides it with a platform to fulfil its growth strategy in the UK and across Europe.
The Selby operation takes mixed rigid plastics from waste companies and local authorities, which is sorted into individual polymers and processed to produce materials suitable for reuse to manufacture new plastic products.
