Circularise, the Netherlands-based developer of an innovative blockchain supply chain transparency solution, is exhibiting at CES 2021, at the first virtual edition of this long running event that kicked off yesterday.

According to the event’s organisers, this first all-digital show features more than 1000 exhibitors from around the world, showing off the latest trends and innovation in artificial intelligence, 5G, digital health, smart cities, vehicle tech and more.

Circularise is exhibiting the latest version of its blockchain solution, which makes it possible to verify responsible materials sourcing, reinforce sustainable manufacturing and effective recycling practices, while at the same time retaining full privacy protection of sensitive information.

As the momentum for sustainability and the circular economy gains pace, the need for

effective ways to trace materials and products from the production to the end of life and share information about them is increasingly urgent.

More transparency allows companies to close the loop,  mitigate risks across supply chains and create new revenue streams by sharing their “good-stewardship” practices with customers and regulators. The problem has up until now been obtaining this information, both because of the inherent complexity of supply chains, but also due to concerns relating to trust, privacy and confidentiality.

Circularise has developed a patent-pending technology called “Smart Questioning” that allows stakeholders to ask critical questions, such as “Does this plastic part contain hazardous materials?” of a guarded dataset - say, the bill of materials - and receive trusted answers. The technology enables companies to retain full control over their data.

The solution differs from those of other supply chain transparency service providers, where information tends to be made public by default or relies on consortium-based blockchain platforms where data is centralised and exchanged within a silo - “thus compromising  on transparency for the sake of privacy,” according to the company.

“We believe transparency should not come at the cost of reduced privacy and confidentiality. That is why we developed our patent pending technology for creating verified statements on public blockchains without revealing any underlying sensitive data,” says Mesbah Sabur, one of the founders of Circularise.

The company is the winner of numerous awards including the Get in the Ring Impact competition 2020, the EIC Investor Day on the EU Green Deal 2020, the Odyssey Blockchain Hackathon 2020, as well as the 2020 finalist of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste Innovation Platform. Through its work, Circularise supports manufacturers and brands to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

CES 2021 runs through 14 Jan.
