According to German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche, the Siegsdorf-based Brückner Group is one of the 50 most sustainable medium-sized companies in Germany.
The magazine has once again compiled a ranking based on research conducted on its behalf by management consultancy Munich Strategy, which is then published in the magazine.
More than 4,000 German companies with annual sales of between €10 million and up to around €1 billion were included in the survey, from which 400 finalists were selected. This group was whittled down to just 50 top performers, based on their visible commitment to environmental, social and corporate governance goals - and the Brückner Group was among them as one of the four mechanical engineering companies making the cut.
The basis for the final selection is a 'Sustainability Score', which looks at the different ESG areas according to a set of criteria consiting of: ESG perception (external perception and balance of ESG commitment), ESG documentation (meaningfulness of reporting with binding targets) and ESG implementation (realisation of savings and special ESG performance).
The ranking among the top 50 most sustainable German SMEs applies to the entire Brückner Group, comprised of: the management holding Brückner Group, as well as Kiefel, Brückner Maschinenbau, Brückner Servtec, and PackSys Global together with their subsidiaries and locations abroad.
Thermoforming machinery manufacturer Kiefel, for example, established a sustainability strategy several years ago and boasts an active, dedicated sustainability team. The company has been certified by EcoVadis, and won awards for technologies such as the NATUREFORMER KFT 90 Speed.
“Kiefel wants to be a pioneer in decarbonization and achieve CO2 neutrality by 2040,” said Susanne Hirschel, head of Sustainability Management at Kiefel.
For Kiefel, resource conservation, energy consumption and the use of alternative materials play a significant role in its daily activities and the development and manufacture of its machines.
Brückner is proud of the recognition by WirtschaftsWoche.
”The fact that we, as a group of companies belong to Germany's 50 most sustainable medium-sized companies is of course a huge award. On the one hand, it is a recognition for our constant efforts towards a sustainable corporate culture. On the other hand, it is also an incentive to become even better when it comes to reconciling ecology and social issues with long-term economic success,” said Dr. Axel von Wiedersperg, CEO of the Brückner Group.
