The Reclay Group, a Germany-headquartered international recycling and waste management service provider, and chemical company Borealis have entered into a strategic agreement designed, among others, to a secure long-term and affordable feedstock supply for Borealis’ recycling operations.
The new partnership capitalises on the strengths of both downstream and upstream recycling expertise. Since 2002, the Reclay Group has been active in areas ranging from packaging and disposal management, and the development of take-back systems for sales and transport packaging, electrical and electronic devices and batteries to national and international materials trading. The Group works to close material cycles and provide the industry with important secondary resources, ambitions that have resulted in the present collaboration with Borealis- a company that offers ‘state-of-the-art’ processes in the field of advanced recycling, said Raffael A. Fruscio, owner and managing director of the Reclay Group. "We’ll jointly be setting a new standard in plastic recycling.”
Under the partnership, Borealis will have access to steady supply of lightweight packaging waste collected through Reclay’s Extended Producer Responsibility scheme in Germany. Borealis will process this waste at its recycling plants, boosting the production and the availability of recycled materials to help value chain partners, customers, and brand owners meet recycling quotas and further increase the volume of plastic recyclate used in products and applications.
