A new collaboration between Blend+ GmbH and Mitsui & Co. Deutschland GmbH is aimed at developing and marketing advanced additives designed to enhance the performance of recycled polyolefins, making them suitable for higher-end applications.
Mitsui brings to the partnership its extensive knowledge of additive chemistry and applications, while
Blend+ is developing the process technology for optimal mixing of customized additive blends, producing and shipping the blends in the product form - powder, pellets - required by the recycler.
The new blends, which can contain more than five components, are wholly tailored to the specifications of the customer. Next to the formulation itself, these customers require reliability and consistency from batch to batch, as well as easy handling and processing. Blend+ has the expertise and equipment, and uses an ultra-precise, process-controlled ingredients weighing process, to produce complex formulations accurately and consistently.
The agreement follows the Mitsui & Co. Partner Dialogue sessions at K 2019, in which Blend+ GmbH
participated with a discussion on ‘How Additives Solutions improve the quality of your recyclates’.
At that same K Show, the fast-growing importance of plastics recycling was clearly demonstrated said Joachim Bayer, Manager Sales of Blend+. “The development of customized formulations and blends is driven by the fact that the quality of sourced raw materials for the production of recyclates varies tremendously from customer to customer,” he pointed out.
Mitsui and Blend+ therefore both see significant growth potential for blends in the recycling market, the reason why the two companies have entered into this agreement. By joining forces, they will better be able to satisfy their customers need for the high-grade additive blends required for recycled polyolefins.
