Bio-Fed, the Cologne, Germany-based branch of Akro-Plastic specialising in the development and production of biobased compounds, has signed a distribution agreement with Brazilian distributor Piramidal for the Brazilian market.
The company has identified Brazil as an emerging market for sustainable plastic products, explained Stanislaw Haftka, sales director at Bio-Fed, and is aiming to grow a presence there by working with a distribution partner. Piramidal is a major player in the Brazilian thermoplastics distribution market. “With Piramidal, we have a competent and experienced partner at our side in this region who has a strong network in various industries in Brazil,” he said.
Piramidal launched a Circular Solutions business unit launched in 2021, which has a wide range of sustainable products and services aimed at minimising the environmental impact while fostering economic growth.
As a member of the Feddersen Group, Bio-Fed markets its compounds under the brand name M·VERA. The range consists of up to 100% biobased, biodegradable compounds, for which matching sustainable colour, black and additive AF-Eco masterbatches are available, as well as ISCC PLUS and REDcert² sustainable-certified compounds made from biomass-balanced PP.
Specific masterbatches precisely tailored for these compounds have also been developed based on biomass-balanced carrier material.
“The partnership with Bio-Fed is an important step in our strategy to bring complete sustainable solutions to the market. Bioplastics have huge growth potential in the coming years, and together we will be able to support our customers on this path,” said Fábio Koutchin, Circular Solutions Manager at Piramidal.
Piramidal will handle the distribution of the complete range of M·VERA products plus the corresponding masterbatches in Brazil. The range includes grades for blown film extrusion, injection moulding, extrusion and thermoforming applications.
