Packaging solution provider Berry Global Group, Inc. has announced plans to commence development of its International Centre of Excellence and Circular Innovation Hub in Barcelona, Spain, in the third quarter of 2023. Berry already operates at five locations in Spain, three of which are in the neighbourhood of Barcelona.
Investing in the new hub will enable the company to concentrate its innovation expertise under a single roof - the centre will become the new workspace for over fifty team members from across Barcelona. Berry said that staffing would be increased according to business needs and customer collaboration.
In this way, it will give international customers and partners access to new circular products and industry leading research and development experts, while functioning as a collaborative space for innovative product design.
“The ability to access innovative, sustainable packaging solutions is more important than ever as our customers across the globe strive to shift to a circular, net-zero economy,” said Jean-Marc Galvez, president of Consumer Packaging International.
The new centre will also promote and explore the further development of Berry’s Bmore Circular Solutions range. These are products that feature recycled content, offer refill/reuse solutions that minimise waste or that incorporate design modifications to improve recyclability.
The centre will Including an interactive learning space where visitors can learn about Berry’s latest sustainable products and gain insight into advances in resin material science, manufacturing, and design for reuse and recyclability.
The centre will also serve as a hub for international collaboration due to its proximity to Barcelona’s international airport, a centralised travel location for Berry’s European customers and home to several U.S. airport hubs.
