After 30 years at the helm of the European association for plastics converters EuPC, Alexandre Dangis is stepping down. He plans to remain as a senior advisor to the EuPC President but will be involved in other personal circular plastics projects as well.
His successor is Bernard Merkx, who has been appointed Managing Director of EuPC by the EuPC Steering Committee effective 1 January 2023.
One of his foremost tasks will be to further guide the European plastics converting industry on the path towards full circularity within the scope of the PolyVision Project launched in June 2022, EuPC starts to reorganise its structure in order to prepare the association for the future.
According to EuPC President Mr. Benoît Hennaut, many of the 50,000 SMEs in the plastics converting industry in Europe are family-owned businesses that ‘do not have the management time to foresee important strategic changes’.
PolyVision will further develop tools and find new ways to assist plastic-converting companies in Europe who need advice and guidance in this challenging circular plastics transition.
“Bernard Merkx has been working with EuPC as Building & Construction Division Manager since beginning of this year and he has always been very close to all the EuPC activities. Additionally, his background in plastics recycling will certainly help to continue the work done by Alexandre on the circularity of our plastics industry in Europe. We have therefore chosen for continuity at the head of EuPC”, said Benoît Hennaut, EuPC President.
