European polymer compounder Benvic will use Fakuma 2023 to present the best of its environmental material solutions. Whether bio-based, derived from recycled material or both, Benvic uses many material options, which can then be integrated into the most appropriate process for the circular economy, said Eric Grange, Benvic’s marketing mnager
He noted that more and more often, customers are asking for eco-friendly material solutions that will allow them to lower their own product environmental impact. These are demands Benvic is eager to comply with - and is well able to deliver- backed up by LCAs.
Next to an established range of recycled vinyls, which the company markets under the ProVinyl-R name, Benvic is also introducing its new Dot-R range, comprised of non-PVC thermoplastics with recycled content including a number of flame-retardant PP compounds with recycled content.
Complementing its portfolio of compounds with recycled content, Benvic will also be showing its biobased Plantura range. Opting for one or the other ‘really needs to be assessed in terms of individual cases and overall environmental impact’, Grange emphasised.
Plantura exhibits excellent GHG emission figures and has already scored significant orders such as the adaptive automotive grille shutter presented at the 2022 K show last year. Biobased materials may still play only a minor role when it comes to engineered parts, but Benvic is solving such issues with original formulations. As Grange says, either choice offers engineers options for designing products with much reduced environmental impacts. “This is a new science – without absolute solutions but a work in progress,” he stressed.
