This year marks the first time Benvic, a European producer of polymer compounds, technical compounds and biopolymers, will be exhibiting at the Fakuma trade show in October in Friedrichshafen. The show will see Benvic’s launch of a range of new polyolefin and elastomeric compounds, following the company’s acquisition of various selected TPE and PP compounding assets from Celanese. Benvic’s expanded portfolio now comprises some 2,500 materials and compounds, offering plastics processors, and particularly extrusion experts, ample options for cost-effective processability and product performance.
According to Benvic product marketing manager Eric Grange, Fakuma 2023 is perfect for the introduction of Benvic’s new material technology, ‘in particular our polypropylene, recycled, PLA and elastomeric compounds, which will complement and – in some cases – substitute in our legacy markets for PVC-based materials’.
At its booth, Benvic will be exhibiting the full range of its product families, including DotCore (PP), DotFlex (TPE) and Dotech (PA, PS, PBT) as well as Benvic’s biobased Plantura range.
Benvic’s Plantura is the bio-brand fast gaining traction in technical markets as it can be substituted for various different engineering polymers, the company said.
Meantime Benvic’s PVC-based materials have been rechristened under the ProVinyl label. Materials here include rigid, plasticised and recycled grades, with custom-made ProVinyl formulations for sustainable use.
“Both recycling and bio sourcing are solutions that allow engineers to design products with much reduced environmental impacts,” said Grange. “These are new sciences – often without absolute solutions, and tackling multiple levels of materials technology - resins, additives, fillers, and recyclate. And this is where long-standing compounding expertise is critical.” Benvic’s legacy foundations, materials know-how, and the acquisitions made over the past years have put the company ‘in pole position to advance the sector’, he added.
