Bausano has launched a trade-in scheme for its twin-screw extruders.
The Italy-based extrusion machinery manufacturer is offering up to 30% above market value for MD series machines. Customers looking to upgrade to a new model can trade in their old extruder.
The initiative – called Formula Reward – is intended to facilitate innovation and modernisation. Old extruders can be traded in for more energy efficient models, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
Bausano determines the value of used extruders through a comprehensive assessment, a company spokesperson told Sustainable Plastics. First, the company references the resale value of similar Bausano models in the used equipment market to establish a baseline. It then conducts a thorough inspection to evaluate the overall state of the extruder. The total working hours of the machine are also reviewed to assess wear and remaining operational lifespan. Finally, critical elements such as the cylinder and screw condition are analysed to determine their efficiency and potential need for refurbishment.
“This structured evaluation ensures that our used extruders are accurately priced, balancing both performance expectations and market value,” the spokesperson said.
Bausano then reconditions the used extruders before placing them back on the market. Each unit is refurbished with a PLC-based Digital Extruder Control 4.0, which provides greater data control and monitoring, optimising process efficiency and automation. New energy-efficient motors are also installed, as well as mechanical upgrades, including the replacement or refurbishment of screws, barrels, and wear components to restore optimal extrusion quality. Bausano also makes upgrades to the electrical system, such as installation of modern control panels, upgraded wiring, and safety systems for improved operational reliability.
“These reconditioned extruders offer a cost-effective and high-quality solution for clients looking to invest in reliable, upgraded equipment with the benefits of modernised technology,” Bausano’s spokesperson said.
“The goal is to offer our customers the opportunity to update their machinery and enhance the productivity of the plants, according to an eco-friendlier business model," explained Giorgio Critelli, area manager of Bausano. “Transition 5.0 is not limited to technological innovation but assumes a real cultural change. Bausano is proud to promote this new paradigm through concrete actions, which also aim to support companies in the current global competitive scenario,” he concluded.
