Avient Corporation is expanding production of its Nymax REC recycled nylon formulations production to Istanbul, Turkey.
The materials company already produces the recycled nylon grades in Europe, Asia, and North America. It now aims to facilitate access to REACH-compliant materials to its clients based in the Middle East whilst sourcing recyclates locally.
The Nymax REC formulations are made with 20% to 100% recycled content from registered sources approved by the European Union regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), such as recycled textiles.
The PA6-based materials maintain high-performance standards, offering strength, durability, impact resistance, and weather resilience. They can also be customised with reinforcements, modifiers, and fillers for applications requiring chemical resistance or flame retardancy.
“Expanding production to Istanbul, and leveraging locally sourced recycled content, allows us to supply Turkish and Middle Eastern markets with sustainable, REACH-compliant solutions while minimising the environmental impact of material transport,” said Matt Mitchell, director of global marketing for speciality engineered materials at Avient. “This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainability and to supporting our customers in achieving their environmental goals.”
By incorporating recycled content, Nymax REC formulations boast a lower Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) compared to virgin nylon. The materials are suitable for a range of industries, including automotive, industrial, electrical, and electronics.
