At Fakuma 2024, Arburg hopes to inspire school and university students, as well as early-career professionals, to join the plastics industry.
Its career-focused campaign – called “Mold your dreams, mold your future” – will be held on its stand on Oct. 18 and 19 (Hall A3, stand 3101). With over 75 years of experience in training and career development, Arburg will present the vast opportunities available in the plastics industry, ranging from apprenticeships to degree programs.
"The future needs ideas – and people who can develop and implement them,” said Dr Christoph Schumacher, vice president global marketing at Arburg. “If you want to shape the future, you're in the right place in our industry. The plastics processing industry offers many brilliant opportunities to get personally involved in solving the important and burning issues of our time. This is where you can clearly find that 'purpose' that people often talk about today,” he added.
A team of experts, accompanied by 30 Arburg trainees, will be available to discuss career pathways in plastics processing.
Arburg wants to show young visitors ‘how plastics and sustainability can be reconciled’. Research by Deloitte shows that more than 70% of Gen Z and millennials surveyed consider prospective employers’ environmental policies when job hunting. For a quarter, these considerations have impacted whether they accept the job.
Visitors to Arburg’s stand will be able to engage with hands-on activities such as making dolphin figurines from recycled fishing nets using Arburg’s Allrounder injection moulding machine. Visitors can also interact with the company’s "arburgSOLUTIONworld" exhibit, showcasing videos on Arburg’s training programs and sustainability initiatives.
Another highlight will be a talk by Andreas Fath, the ‘swimming professor’ from Furtwangen University who will discuss his efforts to combat water pollution and microplastics, following his recent swim along the Elbe River.
Arburg is offering free tickets for the Career Day on its website, where attendees can also apply for training opportunities and degree programs. Arburg offers comprehensive career options, including roles in technical and commercial fields, such as industrial mechanics, product design, and warehouse logistics, along with degrees in engineering, computer science, and more.
