Alterra Energy has announced that it has earned International Sustainability and Carbon Certification PLUS for its Akron, Ohio, advanced recycling facility.
Alterra Energy has developed and commercialised a continuous advanced recycling technology that transforms end-of-life plastic into petrochemical products for further refinement into fuels, waxes and new plastic production. The plant has the capacity to process 60 tons of plastic waste a day, based on its proprietary, patented thermochemical liquefaction technology.
According to CEO Frederic Schmuck, Alterra is ‘re-imagining a future where society is free from landfilling and incinerating plastic waste, unlocking the full potential of the continuous use of waste plastics’.
“Alterra creates economic value for waste plastic, enabling the circular economy and creating a cleaner world,” he said.
